Former Putnam Man Accused in New Fairfield Suspicious Death
Connecticut state police detectives arrested a "person of interest" on a larceny charge in connection with an investigation into a suspicious death of a woman on Candlewood Lake Road in New Fairfield. Steven Flood, 32, (no address known) was arrested while camping in the woods in Union, CT, at noon Thursday by a patrol trooper and his K9 partner, police said.
Flood is a former Carmel resident, a veterinarian's assistant and security guard who worked in Putnam and Connecticut, according to the Putnam County Courier.
Police said Flood was developed as a person of interest after they processed the scene at 26 Candlewood Road, where the unidentified woman was found dead, and once her death was ruled suspicious. Police later secured a warrant for Flood, and checked several addresses looking for him before he was found.
Flood was held on a court set bond of $100,000. Police said the investigation remains active, and neither the woman's identity nor the cause of her death has been released.Hudson Valley Cop Found Dead In His Home
HURLEYVILLE, NY — The death of a Fallsburg police officer is being investigated by the State Police. Dylan Dainack, 35, who lived on Railroad Avenue in Hurleyville in Sullivan County, was found dead by an acquaintance shortly after he had returned to his home during his shift Wednesday for an evening meal break.
The acquaintance called 911 after finding him. State Police said an autopsy is scheduled, and the investigation into Dainack’s death remains ongoing.

Poughkeepsie suicide being investigated for link to NYC homicide
New York City Police detectives were in Poughkeepsie Saturday investigating a possible link between a suicide in the City of Poughkeepsie and a homicide in New York City, City of Poughkeepsie Acting Police Chief Thomas Pape said Saturday night.
City of Poughkeepsie police responded to a report of a possible suicide before dawn on Saturday, Pape said. Officers found a male victim with a single gunshot wound to the head. The suicide victim was at his mother’s home.
The body was turned over to the Dutchess County Medical Examiner’s Office, Pape said. The identity of the body was not available.
Later in the day, NYPD detectives traveled to Poughkeepsie to discuss the case with police, Pape said. As part of the NYPD investigation, the victim’s vehicle was impounded and the NYPD plans to transport it to New York City.
According to the NYPD, officers at about 10:30 a.m. Saturday responded to a residence on Staten Island and found a 43-year-old female, who was unconscious and unresponsive, with a laceration to her neck.
She was pronounced dead by the city Emergency Medical Service, the NYPD said. No arrests had been made as of Sunday and police withheld the victim’s name pending notification of the family.

Casting Call: Movie Being Filmed In Hudson Valley Seeks Extras
Hudson Valley residents looking to get into acting have a chance to get their foot in the door by appearing as an extra in a major feature film starring "Game of Thrones," actor Maisie Williams.
The Hudson Valley Film Commission said the production company for the movie "Departures," is looking for local residents 18-to-22 years old of all ethnicities who look like high schoolers.
The commission said they prefer all applicants are local to the Hudson Valley region and that they have a Screen Actors Guild Card (SAG).
The movie, which also stars Asa Butterfield, who previously starred in Martin Scorsese’s "Hugo," is about a young person who is battling a terminal illness.
Commission officials said they have received hundreds of applicants, but most don't have "good" headshots. They offered the following tips on how NOT to take a selfie.
- Do not ever take a selfie of your reflection with your phone in a frame.
- Don't tilt the camera on an angle.
- Do not send photos where you are in the company of others. Casting is looking for your headshot and yours alone.
- Do not sit in your car and take a selfie. This is a common practice, which we just cannot figure out.
- Do not send photos where you are making a face. It's not flattering.
- Do not send a photo that is out of focus
- Do not send a photo that has low resolution
- Do not take a photo of yourself lying on the floor or in bed.
- Do not send more than two photos. One is best.
- Do not send a photo that is too dark or grainy
- Never use a halo effect where a light is placed behind you.
- Do not pout your lips or make "duck lips"
- Do not wear sunglasses
- Do not feature your tattoo.
- We suggest that you don;t tilt your head. It makes many people look deranged. Keep your head straight.
- Do not send vacation photos.
- Do not send full body shots when we are asking for a headshot.
- Do not send a photo where someone's arm is on your shoulder. This goes back to having the photo taken of you alone.
- Do not crop any part of your head out of the photo.
- Do not forget to include clear contact information -- phone, email, the town you live in, etc.
- Do not pose with your dog, cat or pet.
- Do not send a photo that doesn't look like you.
- Do not send an old photo. Send a recent photo.
- Do not send a photo where you are wearing face paint.
They also suggest using a professional photographer, a friend, or a new phone whose cameras have great resolution.
"We recommend that at worst, you stand in front of a white/generic backdrop and either take a selfie with your arm straight out," the commission said. "Snap a few portrait style photos of your face and neck and try your best to make it look like it is not a selfie."
