QUAKER HILL COUNTRY CLUB

Quaker Hill Country Club, located 60 miles north of New York City overlooking the Harlem Valley in the Dutchess county town of Pawling, was founded by legendary radio commentator and adventurer, Lowell Thomas. The scenic 9-hole course was designed by famed golf architect Robert Trent Jones, Sr. with an extra set of tees for those wishing to play 18 holes. Lowell Thomas himself drove the first ball at the club opening in 1941.
The club prides itself not only on its excellent and well-maintained golf course, also, but on its traditions (especially The Barn, its unique 19th century converted barn clubhouse with the "History of Civilization" fireplace, the "Nine Old Men's Room" and the Studio Museum from which Lowell Thomas made many broadcasts and is now filled with memorabilia). It is also known for its informality (including no golf starting times), its diverse membership and its affordability. In addition to golf, members also enjoy using the club's tennis and croquet facilities and attending a variety of social events (such as cocktail parties, golf tournaments and scrambles and family oriented events).
